Leslie, Rob, Marcia, Jack, David (David? My,,,,,how good to hear from you!), My thanks for all your wonderful comments....but you were supposed to convince me NOT to get the scope. <grin> Well, I'll have to see what I can do to make a deal with Santa. Seriously, though, I was concerned about the weight and length of the darn thing. I have a Kowa...TSN-1....bought long before my eyes could "see" as David says. It is small enough to tuck into a duffle for flights and I can carry it well enough. I have very small shoulders that do not support a tripod very well. In fact, I find it more comfortable to carry the scope in one hand from the center section, with my arm straight down. I saw the tri-pac in operation, and although it looks a little clumsy, it might make life easier. Be forewarned, however, that in the heat of the moment last week I saw one poor girl whip off her tri-pac fast enough to dump the whole thing on the ground, scope and all. Crunch....and she had a plastic Kowa, too. Eeeek. That was not very encouraging. Still, I suppose with practice.... Hmmmm, do I sound convincing yet???? Thanks, gang!
