Queen Anne's Co. Birds

On Saturday, Nov. 28 Debbie Terry and I spent the day birding in 
Queen Anne's County.  Sites visited were Terrapin Nature Area (T), 
Horsehead Wetlands Center (H), and Wye Island Natural Resources 
Management Area (W).  Here is a partial likst of birds:

Common Loon - single birds seen at all three sites
Pied-billed Grebe - about 12 at H in Marshy Creek
Horned Grebe - ~8 in the Bay off T
Black Vulture - ~15 at H
Snow Goose - 2 immatures at W
Canada Goose - thousands at W
Tundra Swan - ~40 flying over H
Mute Swan - ~15 at H.  Also saw a pair flying over the Kent Narrows 	
Bridge when one collided with the power lines and went spiralling 	
into the water.  It was later observed swimming freely.
Gadwall - ~25 at H
Wigeon - ~75 at H
Canvasback - ~100 at H
Redhead - 2 (a pair) at H
Greater Scaup - 3 at H
Lesser Scazup - 5 at H
Surf Scoter - 27 at H in the main channel, only 2 adult males
Oldsquaw - several in the Bay off T and at H
Bufflehead - Hundreds.  Seen at all sites
Goldeneye - ~15 in the Bay off T
Ruddy Duck -  flocks of about 100  each at H and W
Harrier - 1 each at H and W
Coot - many in the mixed duck flock at H
Killdeer - 7 at W
Horned Lark - 2 at W
Marsh Wren - heard 1 at H
Golden-crowned Kinglet - several at H
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 1 or 2 at all three sites
Cedar Waxwing - ~40 at H
Myrtle Warbler - dozens at T and H
Tree Sparrow - 1 at T
Field Sparrow - 1 at T
Swamp Sparrow - numerous at H
Rusty Blackbird - 2 (a pair) at T
