We bought the Kowa 824 last year.  824 translates to the 82mm type 4 which is
the Flourite purged with an angled eye piece.  We also purchased the 20x60 zoom.
 I don't have much previous experience with scopes, but we did look through
quite a few, and I haven't found another one in the same price range that looked
better.  I am constantly amazed after scanning a while and then looking at the
same subject naked eye, at how far away the bird is.  It did not take long at
all to get used to using this scope. Very easy to focus.  An extra bonus is that
it is waterproof. My husband is 6'3" and I am 5'2" so the angled eye piece makes
sharing the scope much easier.  Bombay hook will never be the same again!
