Gail,

Thanks for your ideas. In any "normal" year, both Snowy Owl and
Dovekie would be possible in close proximity in Massachusetts.
This year, however, has been unusual. I have only seen one
report of a one-day-only Snowy Owl at Plum Island the last week
of October. Both Massachusetts RBAs and MASSBIRD have been
silent on this bird this season. Surprisingly, the Logan
Airport, purported as one of the best locales for Snowy Owl on
the East Coast has also been devoid of any reports.

I saw a report of a couple Dovekies at Wellfleet Harbor on the
14th and a single Dovekie this week on the Newport/Westport CBC.
I have heard no reports of Dovekie at Halibut Point, although
this locale has a good "history".

I missed Snowy Owl at Cape Henlopen in early February and at
Duluth Harbor in Minnesota in early March and Plum Island,
Massachusetts over Halloween weekend. Snowy Owl represents the
last owl in North America that I need for the year. It would be
nice to do a "grand slam" on the owls in one year.

Fingers crossed,
