Gregory--I lived on Long Island from 1988 to 1993, and always found wintering Snowy Owls at two locations. 1. Dune Road heading northeast toward Shinnecock Inlet. 2. Smith Point County Park south of Shirley. If you have New York contacts, you might wamt to contact them on this year's status. Back in the glory days of birding in the late 60s & early 70s, three friends and I used to spend New Year's weekends at Montauk and delight in the variety of sea birds we used to see off Montauk Pt., including Dovkies. We even found a Dovkie which had landed on asphalt parking lot at Hither Hills State Park. But alas, from 1988 to 1993, I didn't find a single Dovkie. Congratulations on achieving the 715 mark.
