Howard - Very, very interesting. And pretty scarey too. As you and I have
discussed, quail have disappeared from Maryland in the last ten or fifteen
years, for whatever reason. I really suspect that feral cats are a major
factor, but that may be my bias (and hatred) showing.

Sandy and I were down on the Rio Grande for four days where the temp varied
between 92 on Monday to 34 on Tuesday. We saw 132 species, mostly the usual
stuff, although we did have a scissor tailed flycatcher in Rio Grande City
last weekend. Also a BTGRY warbler in Bentsen. The hybrid oriole that I
photographed last spring is still around Bentsen, although we did not see it.
We did not get the Aplomado at Laguna, despite three trips around the loop.

Came back with only three chigger bites but a major case of Montezuma's
revenge, causing me to cancel my trip to California today. Not fun.

Eventually you will get my Xmas card. That was the project for 23/ 24 Dec,
but that plan went down the toilet!
