Hi all --

Barry and I went down to the LBJ Grove this am to look for the warblers which
had been reported. We located the flock and there seemed to be about 5 or 6
Pine Warblers (as Rob noted, two quite bright, the others varying degrees of
dullness) and two Orange-crowned, one with paler underparts but brighter
yellow undertail coverts than the other, a winter wren, three BC Night-herons,
and Golden-crowned Kinglets. We ran down to Hunting Creek where the best birds
were two adult Bald Eagles out on an osprey's nest, seemingly pilfering sticks
(maybe the two which breed near the MD end of the Wilson Bridge-- it won't be
long before they start nesting).

We then did Hain's Point, where the adult Merlin was sitting in a dead tree
in the middle of the golf course, along with another adult Bald Eagle (inside
the Beltway, btw.)

Our successes came to a screeching halt when we hit the mall, where 45 minutes
of searching failed to reveal -- a parking place! (Much less the Gos) Every
tourist in creation seemed to be on the Mall today -- so go down by Metro!
We did see all the pigeons and gulls fly up at one point but didn't see the
reason for their flight. We will try again tomorrow.
