Greg and others, Just wanted to make sure the word was out (it may already be) that the Black- tailed Gull that has spent the last two winters at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge- Tunnel was refound again December 26. It spent all day on the 26th loafing with Ring-bills on the NE side of Island #4 (its traditional favorite location). Jim Stasz and I took a quick break from the Cape Charles CBC to go see it near 12:30 pm Dec. 27, and it was still there, in the same location. It must have left at some point during the day though, because counters at Fisherman Island (about 5 mi north) had it as well, a first for that CBC. Have done Cape Charles, Crisfield, and now OCean City CBCs in the past few days. Cape Charles had 167 sp, Crisfield 124, and Ocean City is ye to be tallied. Highlights have been Black and White Warbler, E. Wigeon, Kittiwake, Goshawk, Rough-legged Hawk, Golden Eagle, Blue-hd. Vireo and Spotted Sandpiper for Cape Chas., 6 Long-billed Dowitchers, Short-eared and Long-eared owls, a Lincoln's Sparrow, and a Spotted Sandpiper for Crisfield, and a E. Wigeon, Long-eared and Barn owls, 80 Snow Buntings, and an assortment of other niceties today on Assateague. A Sora and Little Gul were in the OC area yesterday. Will let y'all know how the rest of the shore counts go once they finish up.... Best, Marshall Iliff miliff@aol.com
