The landfill is open from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Saturday. It's a right turn off Rt. 7 (travelling east), and is well-marked with a large sign. When you arrive at the guardhouse, stop and tell them you want to look at birds and ask them where they want you to park. Stop again on your way out until they wave you through. I was there on Monday 12/28 and saw one first year Iceland and three winter adult Lesser Black-Backeds. There may have been more of interest, but I found the number of gulls overwhelming and it was hard to concentrate. FYI, the landfill manager is a member of our club, and the staff are friendly to birders. Marcia Watson-Whitmyre Cecil County
