There are usually very few gulls on Lake Redington on Sunday for the simple reason that the nearby landfill is closed. Since I doubt gulls know that it is Sunday, they probably fly up, survey the scene, take a drink and bathe, and leave. Esp. if friend eagle is around! It is probable that they, like gulls which used to frequent the now-closed Laytonsville Landfill, actually roost for the night on the Potomac. (Though this is not certain) The Visitor's Center doesn't open until 10 so even an early visit may be too late. Gail Mackiernan
