Fran- thanks for raising the question about this "Talbot County Count".
On further review, I find that what I reported is really correctly called
the "St Michaels, MD Christmas Count", and it covers a region centered
near Grace Creek and Bozman, MD. The region covered is withing Talbot
County, but does not include all of Talbot County. Nine sub-areas are
covered by the various counting teams. These are:
Tilghman Island, Bay Hundred, Claiborne, Broad Creek Neck, St.
Michaels,
Ferry Neck, Royal Oak, Miles River Neck and Oxford.

A glance at a Talbot County map will show that the count region omits
large sections of Talbot County north and east of Easton and also south of
Easton.

Results are reported to the National Audubon Society in accordance with
their rules and guidelines. Results for 1998 have recently been submitted,
via regular US Mail, not by computer.

This count has been going on for quite a few years. Jan Reese, Dick
 Kleen
and Harry Armistead have been amongst the leaders of the action on it for
much of that period, though they are not currently doing the compiling.

I apologize for using the wrong name for this count, and hope the above
discussion corrects the matter.

Les Roslund
