Hello Everyone,

Seventeen Howard County birders made the trek to the Chesepeake Bay Bridge Tunnel this weekend for a fun weekend of birding. Great fun for me was photographing the Black-tailed Gull, a life bird for everyone on the trip. The Black-tailed Gull was resting comfortably on the northwest side of Island #4, as previously reported. Other good birds on the islands were a beautiful male Harlequin Duck, all three Scoters, close Northern Gannets, an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull on the southeast side of Island #1. Another interesting sighting was a whale seen from the restaurant on Island #1. The only expected bird we missed was Common Eider. Monday morning a popular find was the Brown-headed Nutatches seen near the Chincoteague NWR Visitor's Center in the rain.

The total list for the trip included 105 species. The trip included stops at Ken Narrows, the Choptank River, Blackwater, Chincoteague, Eastern Shore of Virginia NWR, Kiptopeke State Park, and the Chesepeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Here's the list for anyone who might be interested.

Good Birding,
