Barry and an old birding buddy of his from Florida made the long trip to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel today, in hopes of seeing the Blacktailed Gull. There haven't been any reports of it for over a week, but he called me an hour or so ago and I am happy to report that the bird is still there! To be specific, they saw it on the north end of Island #4, and had "wonderful views of it perched and in flight." The Red-necked Grebe is also still at Kiptopeake SP. They didn't see any other unusual gulls, but he reported the weather down there to be very cold and very windy and they may have missed something. Gail Mackiernan Silver Spring, MD gail@umdd.umd.edu
