This is a reply to David Bridge's questions about MDOsprey. I set this list up for the discussion of birds and birding in Maryland. I have no desire to expand that role for the list. It is a comfortable size now, and doesn't generate an excessive amount of mail. Yes, people have posted material from trips to Delaware and Virginia on occasion, but that hasn't been at an intolerable level. Generally speaking, though, I would like to focus the discussion here on Maryland. So...what do we do now that John Tebbutt has decided to take down the Marvadel list? Well, I don't want to expand MD Osprey. In fact I would urge our subscribers to try to stick to topics relevant to birding in Maryland. This is a great opportunity for birders in Delaware or Virginia to show their solidarity and put together a good regional discussion list in those states. The future of these mailing lists lies in keeping them focussed. If anyone missed the discussion about MDOsprey when the list was formed in October 1997, please see our simple website that hopefully will give you some background info on the list: http://www2.ari.net/osprey/mdosprey/mdosprey.html This is my two cents, but since I'm paying the bills.....
