Susan - Sandy Point SP is an excellent spot. In the morning, you are facing the sun, but the panorama is wide enough that there is plenty of area to view without having to stare into the glare. Look for Great Cormrants on the light house in the bay. Go to the "South Beach" facing the Bay Bridge. Also, check the marina for waterfowl and gulls. It will cost you $1 per carload (exact change machine). On your way out, cross over Rt 50 and at the T, turn toward the bay ... on your right (behind the bridge authority building) is a large pond that can be good for waterfowl. This is what used to be called the "Westinghouse Pond". Also, just after crossing the bridge, you can take the exit for Rt 8 south and immediately turn right into the marina area. Take the road to the end and you have another good vantage of the bay (with the morning sun behind you). A third idea is Mustang Point Park. From Rt 50, take Rt 8 north. Just go a short distance and turn left into the industrial park area. At the T, turn either way (it's a circle) and you will come to Mustang Point Park. The trail takes you by several ponds (with viewing blinds) and leads you out to the bay. Hope this helps.
