I can guarantee *that's* a subject line I never thought I'd be typing! I left the (dare I say it?) Kelp Gull on a phone pole at the Sea Breeze Restaurant at 5:10 tonight. It never called while I was there with our tape recorder. The Sea Breeze's owners are in Florida, but their son came out and chatted with me. He's very interested in the whole affair and says the bird has been great for business. With his permission, I put a sighting log in the restaurant and signs up to that effect. One thing I noticed is that the Sandgates Inn restaurant right next door has signs up saying "Parking for Sandgates Inn only. Violators will be towed..." so I would encourage parking at the Sea Breeze, where they have no signs up and have already been approached and are very cooperative. I did stop at the Sandgates to explain what's happening, and neither the manager nor owner were there.
