Hi all, Good News at Cromwell Valley Park. Last week, my friend Jim Myers told me that the male of "West Side" who lost his mate 2 weeks ago, has found another mate, a new female from nearby Loch Raven. That bring total to 5 owls at Cromwell Valley Park. Whoo!! Hopefully they'll go to the nest soon. Today, 2/21/99, Elliot and Nancy Kirschbaum joined me at the park to see the roost of "East Side". We got strike out, the pair might have gone to a better roost. A while later, Jim Myers, his brother, and both of his friend join us to listen for a pair at "West Side" with a new female there, later at 5:36pm, the male was calling to his mate, at 5:39pm male calling again, at 5:40pm again, at 5:50pm, male seen well by all in flight over the hill to a nearby perch, took off again at 5:53pm farther west to the old nest, at 5:55pm male calling to his mate, at 5:56pm he took off again farther west, 3 minutes later, we all went home , we couldn't stay longer to wait for female in flight because of bitter cold. Before everybody arrive, I went up to the ridge to see the #5 owl, at 4:15pm the male was seen took off and was harassed by about 30+ crows. Kevin Graff Baltimore, Md ggraff@erols.com
