Hi, I would like to express my appreciation to everyone involved in
helping the many birders see the Kelp Gull. Thank you very much! I
would like to comment on the size of the gape of the Kelp Gull. The
Kelp Gull's gape, outlined in the corner with red, ended even with the
eye while the Herring Gull's gape which I used for comparison ended
before the eye. Not being a gull enthusiast, I don't know if that is
a characteristic that is helpful in IDing a Kelp Gull. I also would
like to thank Darius Ecker for his great help with the Iceland and
     Thayer's Gulls at Conowingo Dam.

I took the trip to Point Lookout after viewing the Kelp Gull (Friday).
Few ducks were there. There were about 20 Scoters (all three species)
off the fishing pier. Happy birding, Dan Eberly
