Jane, It was a pleasure to meet you today and put a face to the name. I can't tell you how much your daily updates are appreciated. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I woke up this morning with the ground covered with unexpected snow, with school delays. I hemmed and hawwed over whether or not I should meet Jim Bangma this morning for the ride down. The fact that the gull seemed to have changed it's daily routine in the past few days had me a little worried whether it was worth the 2 and 1/2 hour drive. Your update made me feel much better about going. I had seen the bird Sunday, but Jim was looking foward to it, because it was to be his 690th Lower 48 bird, and I think he said it was his fourth? continent for the Kelp Gull. After a late start and one flat tire, we still were able to get the bird before we even got to the parking lot of the Seabreeze. Disgustingly easy, almost shameful.. okay... downright shameful!! As we were finishing up lunch around 1:20, the gull flew up river. We left the restaurant at around 1:40, and it still hadn't shown back up, we scanned the pier at the Sandgates and it wasn't there either. I hope it didn't go far... It disappeared shortly after I left Sunday...so I'm a little paranoid it might be because I was there again. Barb Meserve skiptech@compuserve.com
