No Kelp Gull was present during the time I was at the Sea Breeze Restaurant Sunday, March 14, 1999, between 6:45 and 7:10 a.m. More gulls were present today than most recent days, and the water was totally calm, but no amount of chumming could raise a Kelp Gull. The last sighting by birders was Wednesday, 3/10, around 5 p.m., sleeping on the pier. The restaurant manager believes he saw the Kelp Gull fly off with other gulls at 11 a.m. on 3/11. The folks at the Sea Breeze Restaurant have offered to give updates. You may call them at 301-373-5217.
