Hi Lydia:

The vernal pool near Rock Creek, across the street from Woodend, is
fabulous right now.  Has the water level dropped in your pond due to
recent dryness?  If not, maybe they just haven't started yet -- they
were later than usual at our site, just perking up this week.  You're a
bit further north.  If none of the above, possible culprits are
predators (are there fish in your pond?) or contaminants (I sure hope
it's not this).
