RFI: early June in north central California

I am going out to California in early June and was wondering if any
MD Ospreyers have any tips on any "must visit" sites, or on which site
guides they have found useful. I will be staying in Aptos, near Santa
Cruz. Although Shearwater Journeys doesn't have any trips scheduled,
I may get out salmon fishing, although maybe not out far enough for
Black-footed Albatross (the one I'd really like to see!). I'm also planning
a short trip to the Sierras - probably Sequoia and Kings Canyon rather
than Yosemite.

Also interested in any hints, lists, or whatever on California butterflies.
There seems to be a real dearth of butterflying resources for
the West....

Thanks in advance for any tips!
