Fort Smallwood is located on the western shore of the
Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Patapsco River,
about 11 miles south of Baltimore, MD. All numbers
are unofficial.

Another record-breaking day at the Fort. Broadwings
took over the skies for a second straight day (814)
and were the largest contributor to a day of 1412
hawks and vultures. Already the year-record for BW's
has been broken. The two-day total (4/16 and 4/17)
for hawks and vultures is 4042, unmatched in the
Fort's history, and we are now only 8 birds shy of
last year's season total! A correction to yesterday's
post: The reported 842 and 712 BW's for the 11-12 and
12-1 hours were actually total birds. BW's were 714
and 550 respectively.
