Folks, The weather at South Padre Island 9-16 April was somewhat similar, though a cold front on 15 April increased neo-tropical densities on Padre and in surrounding areas. Still, the relative paucity of neo-tropicals was noticable, with 4 vireo species and 15 warbler species (not counting the Golden-cheeks nr San Antonio) noted yet many Franklin's Gulls, Indigos, Rose-breasted Grossbeaks, Orioles, and sparrows were about. I was mainly pleased with finding several of the Rio Grande Valley specialties I desired and I managed 215 species for the week in the valley and 235 for the trip (many thanks to Marshall for taking me along on a dry run for the Classic, esp. for the Clay-colored on nest). Also, it was a pleasure to meet and converse with Father Tom. All-in-all a good vacation. Kurt
