Hi All:
Our May 1st trip to Fair Hill led by Marcia Whitmyre gave us 60 species
and 12 birders. It was nice to see Harvey and Marion Mudd from
Montgomery Co. They braved Cecil Co. after dark to search for rails at
BWMA the evening before, brave souls!! and scored Whips at Elk Neck
Forest. A beautiful day it was today too.
The following species all behaved quite well, perched conspicuously in
the open, singing their little hearts out:
**= first of year
**Grasshopper Sp.- 1
Eastern Meadowlark
Yellow Warbler-2
American Redstart- 3
Prairie Warbler- 2( Field Sp. singing nearby for good comparison)-
Brown Thrasher-~12
**Wood Thrush- ~ 6
Ruby-crown Kinglet- several
**Yellow-throated Vireo- 2 ( a little more problematic here, perched in
the top of a VERY tall tree)
Other migrants included:
Black-and-white Warbler- 1
Great-crested Flycatcher- 1
Ovenbird
Louisiana Waterthrush- 1
**House Wren
**Chimney Swift
Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher
**Eastern Kingbird
