Howdy all! Call to Arms! (er, optics, that is) It is with some reservation (but not without a lot of hope) that I am anticipating VERY GOOD migration conditions mid-week through the early weekend for Maryland (Wed-Sat). Watch for the North and East winds to shift to the South. When this occurs, it's time to get out and start birding. The approaching frontal system is producing excellent conditions to the West. It's still a little premature, but this system could produce some very exciting results. OK. Maybe I'm a little overly optimistic. I'm at least wishing! Timing-wise, migration will be in full swing, too (this is the biggest factor--weather only adjusts it). During VERY GOOD conditions ANY place can be good. If you don't or can't get a day off, spend a few moments at a local park, around your neighborhood, pack your lunch and go anywhere (look out your window if you have one). Drive with your windows down...well...maybe not in the rain. <grin> Oh, yes. It will rain. But that's usually more a deterrent to birders; not the birds. Good birding! -Greg Miller Baltimore, MD
