MD listers -- I birded Truitt's Landing from 1145-1600 on Friday, 05/07/99, looking for the previously reported White-faced Ibis. All of my time was along the road, mostly watching the northwest "pool" where a small group (6-8) of Glossy Ibis was present all day. Occasionally one or two birds would leave and another one or two would fly in, so there was some turnover. I figure I saw about 15 glossies during the day. None suggested white-faced, but clearly the bird could still be around. Other birds included 2 Soras south of the road (to the east) and 3 Sedge Wren (all singing at the same time) at the far east end of the road, two south of the road and more distant and one north of the road and right in the scrub off the shoulder. By the way, the numbers of Soras reported here this spring (Marshall and Jim had 4 on Sunday and Michael O'Brien and I also had 4 this past Monday) are record Worcester County totals. Truitt's (in spring) has always been the best place for this diifficult-to-find in Worcester species, but even then a single individual was a good count (e.g., Michael missed this species during our '94 Worcester big years).
