Howdy All!

I birded my way South on Friday, (at a leisurely pace--well, for me anyway)
headed for St Mary's County for May Count on Saturday. I started in
Baltimore County at Liberty Dam Trail, stopped at North Beach, Battle Creek
Cypress Swamp, and Jefferson Patterson Park and Memorial in Calvert County,
and Pt Lookout, Longneck Rd, and Cornfield Harbor Rd in St Marys. I birded
11 hours from 0800-1900. I logged a total of 122 species (of which 21 were
warblers).

Highlights included 11 Black-throated Blue Warblers (all males) at Liberty
Dam Trail as well as a singing Yellow-throated Warbler; Chestnut-sided and
Blackpoll Warblers singing en route to the little shorebird area at the
county line in North Beach; and both Scarlet and Summer Tanagers at Battle
Creek; oh, and a Scarlet Tanager at close range at Liberty Dam whose
plumage was so bright it was absolutely deafening! <grin>
