Ibis Update -- I traveled to Truitt's Landing with my wife, Amy, today, Monday, 05/10/99, for the hoped-for late pm ibis show. Unfortunately, none was to be had. We were joined by the more than pleasant company of the Mudds from about 3:30 pm to 7:15 pm. A small group of ibis (8-12) were consistently in the northwest pool, with frequent ins and outs of 1-3 birds. Additionally, a large flock (about 22) was seen in the distance at the far northern end of the northwest pool area and for better or worse I made a go at trying to see them (through the woods and to the marsh fringe). I don't recommend this at all. I did mange to see this group (in flight only) and none of them "popped". I'm headed to NJ early tomorrow to begin scouting for the World Series on Saturday, so I humbly request a moratorium on ibis searching until my return... Other birds included 1 Sora and 1 King Rail. Good ibising, Mark "three strikes and you're out" Hoffman.
