Matt, St Mary's County is a wonderful place to bird, but it's a little far from Harford Co, so before you rush down there to see a Chat, I should point out that I have seen or heard Chats (and Prairie Warblers) over the years at Susquehanna St Park in the open woodland on the south side of the big picnic area ("Deer Creek Picnic Area" I believe it is called.) They are a relatively late arrival everywhere, and probably a little later way up there in the frozen north of Harford Co. (Any old field with about 5-10 years of regrowth of shrubs and trees is good habitat.) Susquehanna St Park is a great place to pick up a lot of warblers, etc. in a hurry. I got my life Yellow-throated Warbler there, and probably my first good Cerulean's too. I also think I've had Wormies there, mainly heard, a number of times, especially on the slopes by the old mansion in the heart of the park. I used to do field trips out of Baltimore that would make Susq Sp the first stop to pick up a lot of woodland birds, then go on to Brigantine or Cape May NJ to get coastal species. 100+ species are virtually guaranteed on such a trip in May. In fact, I'm tentatively planning to do such a trip again the weekend after next. I enjoy the enthusiasm of your postings and hope to see you in person sometime. May the Chat be with you, Steve Sanford tanager@bcpl.net Randallstown MD (Baltimore Co)
