Carroll/Balto Brewster's = white-winged

Bob,

I didn't even consciously notice there were 2 types of Brewster's
Warblers until I saw your message. My Brewster's Warbler was the
white-winged variety. (My notes to myself indicate the wing-bars were
white, as does my memory. See below.) Again, in all respects apparent to
me, it was exactly the same as the topmost Brewster's Warbler depicted
in the (old) Natl Geo Guide. It had nowhere nearly the amount of yellow
in the breast as in the 2nd picture down.

For the record, here are my entire on-site notes:

"Brewster's Warb
                    5/10/99
                            3:40 - 4:00
Yellow crown
Black eye-line (eye to bill only)
throat and breast
   (below eyeline) white
   except a small wash
   of yellow in breast
Back & Wings gray
wing bars dull white (2)
Call: Blue-wg call
[2 wavy lines to show the two-toned song]
Tail gray top white under"

Your message does seem to reinforce that my Brewster's was in Balto Co
some of the time but mostly in Carroll Co.

Thanks,

Steve Sanford
