Kurt --

This virus (or trojan horse) attaches itself without your knowledge to your
email messages.

Couple of weeks ago I was at a friend's home and she was reading her email.
One message (from a friend, so much for the "don't open any attachments from
someone you don't know" advice). The attachment was labelled happy99.exe.
I said "DON"T OPEN THAT!" just as she clicked on it! TOO LATE! (She had
never heard about this virus, but I had via my work internet). We saw a screen
of fireworks. I told her that she now had a virus in her email, so she tested
it by sending a message to herself -- sure enough, the happy99.exe was
attached. It took her four hours, speaking with Norton on the phone to get
rid of it. And luckily she had another computer in the house (her kid's)
so she could copy over certain operational files that were now contaminated
on her own machine.

(I never followed which files, I have a Mac and it doesn't have the same
operating system.)
