Marshall, Jim
As you may have read, no WFIB at Truitt's on Saturday, May 22.
Did have three rails - Virginia, King and a Black. The Black was
near the no trespassing sign on the right about half way to the
water. Michael O heard it call once so I went down and spent
some time with the bird. A county bird for me.
At Elliot I got two more county birds. I had two pairs of
Black-necked Stilt and a single Common Moorhen. There were
lots of Dunlins, Short-billed Dowitchers and other shorebirds,
also. The best location was the pools on the right just after you
enter the marsh. Elliot also had calling Virginia and Black rails.
It might be a useful stop on a big day route.
Good luck.
George
