Did the big loop today, parking at Wakefield Rec. Center, then walking to, and around, Lake Accontink. With many stops to investigate interesting calls, it took me from 10:30 to 1:30. Interesting sightings included a Spotted Sandpiper just N of the bridge across Accotink Creek, a Green Heron and 2 Little Blue Herons (adult & juvenile) where the creek feeds into the lake, 3 male Prothonotary Warblers at 2 sites on the E side of the lake, a female Pileated Woodpecker who let me watch her debark a stump right next to the path, and Barn Swallows who seem to hope that they will once again be permitted to nest under the canopy of the barge.
