We were at Death Valley in mid-November last year, when the weather was
nice, so our experiences may not apply, but the best birding is in the
Furnace Creek area and at Scotty's Castle.  The Salt Creek boardwalk north
of Furnace Creek was also good. We stayed at Stovepipe Wells, where there
were nearly no birds. My guess is that this will be near the hottest time
of the year there and that birding will be pretty slow.  It's also a
dangerous place in the summer.

You might consider Ash Meadows NWR on the eastern edge of the valley. I've
heard it was a good place, but we didn't make it there.  

Your trip itinerary seems a bit ambitious.  There's a lot of ground between
the places you mention.  You could fit Maryland in between some of them, I
would guess.
