Ospreyers, I saw the Little Egret yesterday (Monday) at about 12:30 in Shearness Pond. It was hanging out with about 10 Snowy Egrets so it was easy to compare. The bird has much duller lores and feet color and appears to have only one head plume left. When we drove back by around 2:30 on our way out, we couldn't find the Little Egret again. Morning seems to be the best. We also had Wilson's Phalarope in breeding plumage, Avocets, Short-billed Dowitcher, both Great and Lesser Yellowlegs, Least Sandpiper, and Semipalmated Sandpiper. Unfortunately, no Reeve was found (quickly becoming a nemisis bird for me). Sue -- Susan Heath Centreville, VA sheath@erols.com
