Dear Ospreyers,

I went to find the Little Egret July 3. As instructed in the RBA, I arrived
early. However, for the last two days, the bird has not been seen until
afternoon. (Andother birder and I found it for the first time after 3 p.m.
- almost 8 hours of looking! When we found it, we danced and jumped.) The
birder from New York birding alongside me for much of the day observed that
the tides made a great difference as to how many egrets of any kind were in
the refuge. If you go, you might want to go at high tide. We didn't find
all birds that have been reported, but we did have a fine day. In addition
to my list (below) my New York colleague found least bittern and the
Wilson's phalarope.
