This just in from a Michigan friend:

Just heard on Michigan Public Radio today that there were 100 more counted 
of the "singing male Kirtland's" this year than last (900 this year), and 
that the numbers are the highest they have been in 50 years.  Good news, 
huh.
Maybe that's why your MD Osprey friend had such good luck with his 
sightings.
 Hope next year is as good and better.
