Bonnie - I greatly enjoyed hearing of your nesting birds - and accept it as an invitation to mention ours. To date, here on the headwaters of Leeds Creek, we have seen 1999 nesting success for the following species: House Finch; Starling; Common Grackle; Mockingbird (second brood of three young in our pear tree at eye level); Robin (second nest choice in walnut tree above our deck); Wood Duck - saw mom and nine go upstream after success in the box we provided; Carolina Wren (1) in one of our BlueBird boxes; Carolina Wren (2) in spot beside porch that we had arranged for House Finch use; Tree Swallow (fledged 4 of 5 from one of our BlueBird boxes (fifth found dead in the nest); House Wren (1) in tiny decorative box that was also used last year; House Wren (2) in another spot beside porch designed for House Finch use, and Osprey with one youth on our platform. House sparrows also have been successful in the Osprey nest. Les Roslund Lroslund@bluecrab.org Easton, MD
