Leslie,

Don't apologize for the length--that was a great story!  I know that
osprey are quite territorial, especially when other potential danger
birds such as bald eagles are in the range of their nests, but I had 
never witnessed the behavior you documented.  I look forward
to hearing from others about their sightings in this regard.

In the meantime, Leslie, you should seriously consider writing
up your story to submit to Chan Robbins for publication in MD
Birdlife (you ARE a member of MOS, aren't you???  grin).
