Today we got up well before the crack of dawn to beat the heat, and to take
our Brit visitor out for some birds near Lilypons. Along Lilypons Road,
just before its junction with Rt. 85, a male and female DICKCISSEL, a singing
VESPER SPARROW, several singing GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS (also along Oland Rd.)
and a small flock of HORNED LARKS.

At Lilypons itself, a pair of YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERONS, both SOLITARY and
SPOTTED SANDPIPER, BROWN THRASHER and other expected species -- but this year
there seem to be no Least Bitterns breeding. Nor were we able to find any
Willow Flycatchers but it was getting hot and shutting down quickly.

That was about all we were up for today!
