If you don't have a Delorme Atlas for MD/DE, I would highly recommend getting one. If you do have one, Ridgely is on pg. 51 4-C. To get there from the Bay Bridge: Take Rt. 50 South to Rt. 404 East. Follow on Rt. 404 for a few miles and make a left onto Rt. 480. Make a left onto Rt. 312 North at the town of Ridgely. Go through town and make a left on Bell Rd. Go down Bell Rd. until you see the WWTP on the right. I drove right in parked and walked up to the dike around the ponds. I looked for someone to ask permission, but no one was there so no one questioned me anyway. The three other places you mentioned are all north of Ridgely in Cecil County. They became favorites of mine back in April when Jim Stasz gave me a tour of Cecil County. All are accessible from Rt. 213 and are South of the C&D Canal. Directions from Rt. 213 heading North: Take Rt. 213 North and make a right onto Rt. 282 in Cecilton. Go .6 miles and make a right onto a gravel driveway just before a John Deere retailer. Follow the driveway until the end and park. You can usually see Gunther's pond to the east, but on Tuesday it was dry. There is a path through the crops going toward the pond where we found Bobolinks and Grasshopper Sparrows. In the Spring I found Dunlin, Short-billed Dowitcher, Pectoral Sandpiper, and Semipalmated Plover at the pond. As well as Bonaparte's Gull, Caspian Tern and American Pipit. When leaving make a right onto Rt. 282 and follow until making a left onto Worsell Manor Rd. Take Worsell Manor to Bohemia Church Rd and make a right. Bohemia Church ends at Old Telegraph. Make a right. The next left should Middleneck Rd. Follow Middleneck for a couple of miles to the SECOND set of telephone lines coming from a farm on the left. It is at the intersection of Middleneck and the drive way that I've seen the Vespers very reliably on the telephone lines. I first saw them in April and one was still singing on Tuesday. Good Luck hope these directions helped. Matt Hafner Bel Air, MD
