Hi all --

This morning we went to Rock Creek Park DC to see what was around -- it was
cool and there were a few birds, although just the tip of the fall migration
iceberg. ~20 Gnatcatchers, 5-6 Red-eyed Vireos, 2 Redstarts, 6 Phoebes, 2
Eastern Pewees, 2 Great Crested FCs, 1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo, 2 Rubythroats,
and a large number of Flickers (appeared to be more than the local residents).

In the evening we took Peter to Browns Bridge area, to look for Prairie
Warbler. He saw two of these, plus (drum-roll, please) two WORM-EATING
WARBLERS in the woods! Hooray, they are put to bed -- thanks to all the
ospreyers who gave us sites and encouragement. We heard a Chat, and saw
Blue Grosbeak as well as lots of Indigoes and Field Sparrows. On the
shoreline of the reservoir, a number of shorebirds including one Lesser
Yellowlegs, 5 Solitary SPs, 6 Spotted SPs and about a dozen Killdeer.

We may go back there tomorrow am to try and *see* the Chats.

Cheers,
Gail Mackiernan
