Aug 7. To add to Stan's account: The bird was present at the pond at least until 8 am. When we first arrived it was at the near edge of the pond and spent a good deal of our time there in the middle of the pond. Once others arrived, the bird had a tendency to drift to the far edge. Anyone searching for this species, who would like really good looks at it, should approach the pond as quietly as possible.
