Folks, The Red-necked Phalarope was present at the pond at the point of Point Look-out today, 8 Aug, about 1200. It was visible from 50 yds from the roadway, very close to the eastern edge of the big pond. Easily approached from that location, the bird put on quite a show feeding and then preening and bathing in a very animated fashion. Cher and I were quite pleased! Hopefully, the coming cold front will not induce it to fly - this is a great bird for the Delmarva area that is easily observed! Also present were 1 Semi-plover, 4 Killdeer, 5 Lesser Yellowlegs, 3 Spotted Sandpipers, and 2 Least Sandpipers. Kurt Gaskill
