Among the several = KILLDEER we saw a handful of SOLITARY, 2 SPOTTED (one with spots, one = without), 1 PECTORAL, and 6 (almost definitely) LEAST SANDPIPERS. The = shorebirds were seen in 2 muddy sections that abut the river and are = nearest to the bridge (in the southwest corner of Lilypons property). = The wires along Lilypons road supported and displayed all of the = swallows except cliff, including about 20 PURPLE MARTINS and about as = many BANK SWALLOWS (maybe the cliffs were too heavy?). =20 We found at least 3 UPLAND SANDPIPERS in the field on the NW corner = of Rt 85 and Oland Rd. On the north side of Lilypons Rd just east of Rt = 85 at least 2 VESPER SPARROWS were spotted. =20 Though we did not see it, birders who arrived earlier than us = reported seeing a YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERON just past the entrance to = Lilypons.
