Thursday evening post sunset (19 Aug, after 2000 EDT) there were two Black Terns over the Hydrilla mat N of the Wilson Bridge. (Other observers had had sightings of single birds earlier in the evening.) After departing its perch on the large snag near the W edge of the mat (the largely horizontal trunk that is obvious from Jones Point), the White Pelican spent some time on the water much closer to the shore downstream from Foxy Ferry Point. For 7+ minutes around 2030, it was flying upstream and downstream over the water East of the Hydrilla mat, but it was back on the water before we left around 2040. This morning (Friday, 20 Aug) around 0725, the pelican was feeding off the shore between Foxy Ferry Point and the (seeming) S end of the I-295 bridge over the mouth of Oxon Creek.
