This morning I birded Font Hill. I spent the first 1.5 hours with almost no activity. At 8:30 however a little movement began and it turned into a wonderful morning. I spent about 30 minutes stationary watching a little pocket of birds moving a feeding all around me, then the most delightful thing happened! In a leafless sapling about 8 feet before me an immature REDSTART dropped down to eye level and caught a moth right before me. It seemed to be watching me and appeared quite tame. Then a BLACK THROATED GREEN appeared and flitted before me and then a RED-EYE VIREO! It was such a special treat to see the vireo so close and how exquisite he was. I always relish those "close encounters" and find them the most exciting part of birding. Other interesting sightings were GREAT CRESTED FLYCATHER, B-G GNATCATHER, SCARLET TANAGER and SAVANNAH SPARROW (yea the're coming!). Bonnie Ott , Ellicott city
