Warblers seem to be avoiding the Patuxent Research Refuge North Tract, but an afternoon survey today produced a Veery and Willow Flycatcher, both firsts of the fall migration. In a couple weeks, members of the refuge staff along with volunteer naturalists (like myself) will be meeting to discuss a number of issues, one of them being the playing of recordings to attract birds. There are many opinions on the subject, but is there any research that I might be able to put my hands on? This subject has become somewhat of an issue, and we would like to come up with some guidelines, hopefully based on some studies that have already been done. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Stan Arnold Anne Arundel Co.
