Hi, A summary of this morning, October 1, 0645 to 0830, at Rock Creek Park, DC, picnic areas 17/18: Black-throated Green Warbler. There were actually other warbler species present, too, such as Blackpoll, Bay-breasted, Blackburnian, Black-and-White, and Black-throated Green Warblers, and perhaps a couple of others. Other migrants included Sharp-shinned Hawk, American Kestrel (one each not too long after 0700), Chimney Swift (up and flying high around 0700), Red-headed Woodpecker (one perched on a tree just before 0830), Eastern Phoebe, Yellow-throated Vireo, Blue Jay (maybe 75 or even more), Red-breasted Nuthatch, House Wren, Winter Wren, Gray Catbird, Brown Thrasher, Gray-cheeked Thrush, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, and Black-throated Green Warbler. A Monarch butterfly was 'sunning' in a tree too. We had to go our offices at 0830, grrrr. Best, Rob Rob (Robert) Hilton--*robert@csa.com*--Bethesda, Md. (very close to Washington, DC)
